Navigating culture: URI honors 2025 Asian Cultural Ambassadors
Arts & Sciences student, Sudishma Acharya, was recognized with an award at this year’s program, held in the Memorial Union. Acharya is a finance and data science major from Nepal, currently residing in East Greenwich. She is president of URI’s South Asian Student Association.

The Computer Science and Statistics Department is launching a new Pathways to Success in Computer Science program that will support ten undergraduates majoring in computer science each year for five years. The scholarships include a summer stipend, tuition and book coverage, career professional development and networking with local companies, and on-campus housing and meal plans.

Professor Krishna Venkatasubramanian is researching computer authentication problems faced by people with upper extremity impairment with the goal of developing software that allows users to more easily access their devices. His work has the support of a three-year, $500,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.
