Is the lab available to the public/members of the community to conduct research?

-Currently, the lab is only available for use by College of Business graduate students and COB (and affiliated) research faculty at the University of Rhode Island. Undergraduate students may access the lab through their faculty mentor.

Do I have to have IRB approval for my research project in order to use the lab?

-All research projects conducted in the Behavioral Lab must be approved by URI’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure ethical and academic standards.

Must participants be students or faculty members of the university?

-Participants from any IRB approved College of Business Study may participate in studies in the lab. 

Can participants receive course credit?

-That depends on the study, the project PI and the course instructor.

What are my rights as a participant?

-Participants are entitled to know any information having to do with the study. At any moment, participants may choose to withdraw from the study and have all of the information they have provided, be deleted from the system and not be included in the final report. All studies will have their rights explicitly outlined in their respective consent forms.  

How long do sessions take for participants?

-The length of the session varies from study to study. That information will be found in the study consent form.

Can participants be paid for their time?

-That depends on the study. Some studies do have monetary incentives. Many are for extra credit, depending on study PI and professor granting credit. 

How is my confidentiality protected?

-Confidentiality information will be provided in detail in the respective study consent forms. 

Is there a minimum age for participants?

-Participants must be ages 18 years or older to participate in any study and be scanned.
