Uncovering the developmental basis of adaptation

Steve Irvine studies the effects of high temperature on developmental patterns in marine organisms. Alison Roberts explores the evolution of cellulose biosynthesis with application to modifying microfibril structure through the biosynthetic process. Jacqueline Webb studies the development and functional evolution of the mechanosensory lateral line system, which is responsible for hydrodynamic flow sensing and plays a role in prey detection, predator avoidance, navigation, and communication.
