Heather Palardy is a Senior Ocean Engineering student at the University of Rhode Island, specializing in coastal resiliency and robotics. With over a decade of experience in healthcare, she made waves by transitioning to environmental and coastal resiliency work, determined to help not just people, but all living things. A lifelong learner, she thrives on expanding her knowledge—whether through academics, hands-on research, or professional experience—constantly seeking new ways to innovate and solve complex environmental challenges.
Her passion for problem-solving extends to robotics, where she explores autonomous systems for ocean monitoring and environmental restoration—because sometimes, you need a few extra hands (or robotic arms) to tackle big challenges.
In her role at the Eastern Connecticut Conservation District (ECCD), Heather has successfully applied for, been awarded, and executed grants to fund green infrastructure projects that improve water quality and support community resilience. From coordinating plantings to reduce runoff in Long Island Sound to leading collaborative initiatives with regional partners, she is always ready to channel her energy into solutions. Whether designing stormwater systems, fine-tuning robotic technology, or writing the next grant proposal, Heather believes that even the smallest efforts can have a ripple effect. With both boots in the mud and circuits in the lab, she’s always looking ahead—because learning never stops when you’re building a better future.
