CHS Majors and Alternate Grading Considerations

For students in undergraduate majors within the College of Health Sciences, each major has different courses that traditionally require a “C” or better. These may be requirements to matriculate into the College, or requirements for graduation. This page highlights the exceptions that each department within the College are making during this semester in which the “S/S-/U*” grading scheme is an option.

Please note that these exceptions pertain to Spring 2020 courses only; grades below a “C” will not satisfy these requirements if the course was taken in a prior (or is being taken in a future) semester.

Communicative Disorders – “S” grades will be permitted for CMD 160 in order to move into the College of Health Sciences.

Health Studies – “S” grades will be permitted in HLT 200 and HLT 450 for graduation.

Human Development and Family Studies – “S” and “S-” grades will be permitted for HDF 200, HDF 201, A2, B1, and B3 courses to move into the College. These courses usually require a 2.00 average or better; the average will be taken from any of these courses that have been graded on an A-F scale.

Kinesiology – Students who are working towards Early Contingent PT should consult with Dr. Hatfield regarding “S” grades in their PT pre-reqs.
