Cell and Molecular Biology B.S.

Careers

Students graduating with a degree in cell and molecular biology are prepared to enter the workforce in industry or academic research positions, or qualify for graduate/professional studies. Careers for students with a bachelor’s degree in cell and molecular biology include opportunities such as a clinical or environmental microbiologist in hospitals, positions in the biomedical and pharmaceutical industry as research scientists, positions in state and federal government agencies and positions at research universities.

The major also provides an excellent foundation for the pursuit of a master’s or doctoral degree in many disciplines in the molecular biosciences and biomedical sciences. Furthermore, the major provides an excellent foundation for entry into professional schools including allopathic (M.D.) and osteopathic (D.O.) schools of medicine, schools of dentistry, and physician assistant programs. The major automatically satisfies the minimum pre-health course requirements for these options.
