Biography

Colleen A. Redding, Ph.D. has worked as a Research Professor at the Cancer Prevention Research Center and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Rhode Island since 1994. She specializes in clinical health psychology and has been a principal or co-investigator on many federally funded research projects studying tailored print and computer-delivered interventions applied to a range of health behavior changes (smoking, sexual behavior, diet, sedentary lifestyles, stress, sun exposure, etc.).

She has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and extensive experience developing and evaluating Transtheoretical Model-based interventions across a wide range of problem behaviors, especially STI and HIV prevention behaviors. She received recognition for excellence in research from the University in 2005 and 2012. Her interests are broad, including mechanisms of primary and secondary prevention of physical and mental health problems. Her work has explored TTM constructs as well as interpersonal influences on health behaviors and predictors of change over time. She is especially interested in population-based approaches to improve sexual health, mental health and adolescent health.
