The presenter will compare the ableist method of dealing with disability (D.D.I.E.) with the inclusion method (A.I.R.E.) and how we can recognize them when we encounter them. The session has four objectives: 1) Learning practical steps to move toward a more inclusive environment; 2) Gaining an understanding of what ableist attitudes and actions are; 3) Learning how expectations can lead to more ableist or inclusive attitudes; 4) Addressing these attitudes and actions through implementing the inclusion method.
This session will allow participants to gain an understanding of what ableist attitudes and actions are and learn practical steps to move toward a more inclusive campus environment.
