APPLYING FOR A UNIVERSITY UAS FLIGHT PERMIT

  1. Review the university Policy on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and UAS Procedures.
  2. Download and complete the Flight Sponsor Form (must be signed by the Remote Pilot-in-Charge and the University Sponsor).
  3. Complete the online UAS Flight Permit Application, uploading the completed Flight Sponsor Form and other required documents.
  4. Upon approval, a flight permit number will be issued to the Remote Pilot-in-Charge.

NOTE: A university UAS permit is specific to PIC, aircraft, location, dates/times, and flight purposes indicated in the application. Researchers and public safety personnel (police, fire, EMS, emergency management) may apply for a blanket Annual Permit. All other members of the university community may request a flight permit covering multiple flights over a longer period of time (up to a year) for the same PIC, aircraft, location(s) and purpose. Vendors and third-party UAS operators may only request flight permits on a per-flight basis. UAS flight operations conducted for a different purpose, timeframe, or location other than that specified in the original permit will require either a new permit application or an amendment to the existing one.
