Engineering Living and Leaning Community

The Engineering Living and Learning Community (ELLC) brings together first-year engineering students who want to connect with peers right where they live. Located in the Hillside residence hall, the ELLC is supported by four engineering Resident Academic Mentors (RAMs) and several Resident Assistants (RAs). Together, they create a welcoming and supportive environment that fosters academic success, personal growth, and a smooth transition from high school to college.

Benefits of the ELLC

  • Peer study groups
  • Academic coaches and tutors in the residence hall
  • Social activities that build lasting friendships

RAMs Are Here to Help

Academic Support
ELLC RAMs offer weekly office hours and group study sessions open to all first-year engineering students. They’re here to support you in subjects like math, physics, chemistry, and introductory engineering courses—so don’t hesitate to drop in and get help.

In addition, the College of Engineering has partnered with the Academic Enhancement Center to offer academic coaching and additional tutoring sessions right in the residence hall.

Stay tuned: A full schedule of sessions will be announced soon.

A Point of Contact
Not sure how to enroll in a class, join a club, find your classroom, or meet with a professor? Your ELLC RAM is a go-to resource for navigating your first year in engineering.

Programming and Events

The ELLC offers a dynamic calendar of monthly programs and events to help students engage with their peers and the College of Engineering. All first-year engineering students are invited to participate—whether you live in Hillside or commute from off campus.
