Internships are not a requirement for graduation in the College of Engineering, however, the college works closely with employers around the globe to connect our students with great opportunities for valuable internship experiences.
Approximately 85% of our engineering undergraduates have at least one paid engineering internship experience, with many students having more. Students also have the option to earn academic credit for internships by participating in the ITR Program, overseen by the Center for Career & Experiential Education. The variety of these experiences included internship positions internationally, locally, out of state, and in URI engineering research laboratories.

Career Fairs
There are two major career fairs for engineering students each year where companies actively seek our students both for full time employment after graduation and also for internships:
- URI Engineering & Technology Career Fair (annually in October)
- URI Spring Career & Internship Fair (annually in spring)
Throughout the year, there are additional opportunities to interact with employers. Companies send internship and employment opportunities to Lauren Creamer or to department chairs, who notify students. This information is also posted on the URI Center for Career and Experiential Education website in a searchable employment opportunities database that students can access through HANDSHAKE.
