Guided College Visits for Chaperoned School Groups in Grades 6–12
Engineering Up Close offers immersive, guided visits to the University of Rhode Island College of Engineering for chaperoned student groups in grades 6–12. These visits give students a firsthand look at what it’s like to study engineering at URI.

A typical visit includes:

  • A tour of our Narragansett Bay Campus with a URI Ocean Engineering student
    Explore our beautiful waterfront campus alongside a current URI Ocean Engineering student. Discover state-of-the-art labs, coastal research facilities, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how students study and innovate in real-world ocean engineering projects.
  • A visit to the International Engineering Program
    Learn about URI’s globally-focused engineering opportunities, including study abroad programs, international research collaborations, and hands-on projects with students from around the world. See how our engineers gain skills that prepare them for careers across the globe.
  • An admissions information session (high school students only)
    Get the inside scoop on applying to URI and our College of Engineering. Our admissions team will share tips on navigating the application process, scholarships, and how to make the most of your first year as a Rhody Engineer.
  • Tour of the Fascitelli Center for Advanced Engineering, led by an Engineering Student Ambassador
    Step inside cutting-edge labs and maker spaces, guided by a current student ambassador. Experience interactive demonstrations, see innovative projects in action, and get a sense of what it’s like to study and create in a modern engineering environment.
  • Lunch is provided for all visiting students and chaperones
    Enjoy a complimentary lunch on campus, giving your group a chance to recharge, socialize, and discuss the day’s experiences.

We can customize visit activities based on student age, interests, and goals.  To schedule a visit, please complete this form at least three weeks prior to your requested visit date.
