Cole Chang

Biography

Born and raised in China, Xinqiang received his Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Qingdao Agricultural University in 2005. In 2012, he came to the US to study at the University of South Dakota and received his Master’s degree in English Literature in 2014 after completing and defending his master’s thesis examining male homosociality and social hierarchy in nineteenth-century British novels. Xinqiang Chang passed both the written and oral comprehensive exams in the spring semester of 2017 and has begun working on his dissertation. His dissertation project centers on the naturalization and normalization of reproduction as a literary device in nineteenth-century British novels and its representations in relations to masculinity, social class, and temporality. Meanwhile, he also takes an immense interest in exploring queer cinema and the representations of queer culture in films and media.
