Biography

Heather holds a joint appointment in the Departments of English and Creative Writing and Professional and Public Writing. She teaches in the Honors Program and is Advisor for Senior Honors Projects. Her favorite courses to teach include Women’s Writing, Modernist Literature, and Irish Film, and experiential Honors courses such as River Stories and Immigrant Voices. She has been director of Writing Across URI; a storytelling facilitator with StoryCenter; a volunteer at the children’s bereavement center Friends Way; and for many years taught in Ireland and Scotland.
