James Patrick Gorham

Biography

Dr. Gorham earned his B.A. in English from the University of New Hampshire, his M.A. in English from Northeastern University, and his Ph.D. in English from the University of Rhode Island. His areas of concentration are 19th century American Literature and Early American Literature, with particular research interest in intersections between bodies, technologies, and material culture.

Teaching for URI in various capacities since 2003, Dr. Gorham has worked for both the English and Writing Departments, as well as for the Talent Development Program, with courses including Antebellum American Literature, Postbellum American Literature, The Short Story, Poetry, African-American Literature, World Literature, and Writing/Composition.
