Biography

Sarah Salemy is a teaching assistant at the University of Rhode Island since Spring of 2024. She holds an M.A. in English Literature from Boston College. During her time at Boston College, Sarah was a teaching assistant, writing fellow, and residential assistant. Sarah’s undergraduate degrees in English Literature and Secondary Education were awarded by Salve Regina University along with a minor in creative writing. While pursuing her studies in undergraduate school, she served in numerous leadership positions such as peer mentor, student conduct hearing board, and member of The Willow literary magazine.

Sarah’s research interests include British Literature that revolves around specifically Victorian and Romantic period authors. Some of Sarah’s research aims to explore the idea of identity and the way in which different modalities embody various voices and perspectives of the self. The goal is to analyze novels, short stories, plays, and poetry to compose a well-rounded collection of how multiple authors have addressed what identity means to them whether on a societal or individual level. Overall, Sarah’s goal is to better understand the conception of self-image across the timeline of literature and the impacts on people today.

Outside of the academic walls, Sarah enjoys listening to music, trying new recipes, and exercising to keep her body grounded. Her free time also consists of micro-learning on YouTube and other social media platforms, thrift shopping, and trips to Newport on beautiful days.
