Read/Write Lecture Series

Poet Denise Duhamel read from her recent work and met with students at a Read/Write event this fall. The Read/Write Serieshosted by the Department of English, features readings by distinguished writers and poets, welcoming at least four presenters—from emerging new talents to literary luminaries—each academic year. Readings are followed by a Q & A session and an author reception that offers the opportunity for informal conversation.

English majors, language majors, and students enrolled in our creative writing workshops and seminars are especially encouraged to attend Read/Write events. Faculty often include work by our Read/Write presenters in their classes.

The Read/Write Series is well-known and highly regarded both within and beyond the URI community, enjoying enthusiastic audiences from the larger Rhode Island reading public in addition to faculty and students from URI and surrounding colleges. All events are free and open to the public.
