Minor in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics

Courses in the Environmental and Natural Resource Economics program reflect an interdisciplinary approach which integrates environmental policy, management and business, and environmental sciences. This program empowers students to address a wide spectrum of environmental and natural resource challenges, from local to global scales, using the powerful tools and concepts of economics. Designed for students aspiring to careers in the corporate sector, government agencies, energy, environmental planning, and beyond, this minor is a gateway to impactful opportunities.

To complete the minor you need to take at least 18 credits in an approved set of courses.

You can obtain a minor in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics by taking the following courses:

  • EEC 105 – Introduction to Resource Economics (3 credits-Spring/Fall)
  • EEC 205 – Resource Management and Conservation (3 credits-Spring)
  • EEC 310 – Economics for Environmental Resource Management and Policy (3 credits-Fall)
  • EEC 432 – Environmental Economics and Policy (3 credits-Spring)

and then choose 2 courses from among the following:

  • EEC 320 – Shipping and Ports (3 credits-Fall)
  • EEC 345G – Sustainable Development, Trade and the Environment (3 credits-Fall)
  • EEC 350G – Sustainable Energy Economics and Policy (3 credits-Fall)
  • EEC 352G – Economics of Small-Scale Renewable Energy Systems (3 credits-Spring)
  • EEC 355 – Economics of Climate Change (3 credits-Spring)
  • EEC 430 –  Water Resource Economics (3 credits-Fall)
  • EEC 440 – Benefit-Cost Analysis (3 credits-Fall)
  • EEC 450 – Experimental Economics (3 credits-Fall)
