Following the revocation of Executive Order 11246, an Affirmative Action Program is defined as “a management tool designed to ensure equal employment opportunity and foster employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. An affirmative action program institutionalizes the [University of Rhode Island’s] commitment to equality in every aspect of employment and is more than a paperwork exercise. An affirmative action program is dynamic in nature and includes measurable objectives, quantitative analyses, and internal auditing and reporting systems that measure the [University’s] progress toward achieving equal employment opportunity for individuals with disabilities.”
The University of Rhode Island invites applicants with disabilities to voluntarily self-identify by visiting PeopleAdmin, the applicant portal.
New hires and employees are invited to complete a voluntary self-identification form or to visit the URI Employee Self-Service portal to report their race, ethnicity, sex, veteran status, and disability status.
Responses will help the University track progress, measure success, and allocate resources in support of equal opportunity and the University’s Strategic Plan. Directions for accessing the self-identification form in e-Campus may be found by accessing this link.
Applicants or employees with disabilities requiring reasonable accommodations may initiate the interactive process by contacting the Office of Human Resources.
