The University of Rhode Island Office of Equal Opportunity leads the university’s Affirmative Action in Employment Compliance Program, which has been developed to reaffirm the University of Rhode Island’s policy of providing equal employment opportunity for all persons without regard to race, color, age, country of ancestral or national origin, genetic information, religion, disability status, military or protected veteran status, marital status, sex (including gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, and pregnancy and related conditions), whistleblower activity, or any other protected class, category, or characteristic (“protected status”).

OFFICE OF EQUAL OPPORTUNITY SCOPE AND JURISDICTION
The Office of Equal Opportunity leads the University’s civil rights compliance efforts. With respect to the full-cycle recruitment process, the Office of Equal Opportunity oversees:
- Affirmative action compliance.
- Sourcing and outreach resources identified to foster an applicant pool that is representative of all.
- Workforce analyses and reports.
- Civil rights compliance training.
- Investigations of allegations of discrimination.
