Instructions for Applicant Evaluation Rubric

  • Determine if each applicant is qualified by adding name to rubric and rating for each required qualification. You may also add additional notes in comment section to aid in evaluation.
  • Interpersonal Communication requirements can be left blank on the rubric and evaluated during the interview process.
  • Once an applicant is marked as lacking a required qualification on the rubric, the committee can stop filling in the rubric for that applicant.
  • Determine which of the qualified applicants you would like to interview and add note indicating such in comment section.

(All qualified applicants do not have to be interviewed.)

  • List specific non-select reasons for all candidates you do not wish to interview and they should relate directly to the numbered qualifications stated in the job posting i.e., applicant lacks/weak in required qualification #__.
  • Identifying applicants with a HOLD status allows search committees to return to the pool of applicants if any one of those initially interviewed are not recommended for hire or refuse position offered. Only 20% of your Interview Pending and HOLD pool may be in the HOLD status.
  • Hold status applicants not interviewed, not hired should have a non-select reason, “required qualifications not as strong as candidate selected.”
  • Update PeopleAdmin to match your Interview Pending and HOLD status request before sending the email to Affirmative Action.
  • Email Robin Santini and (Anne Marie Coleman for staff or Dean of the College for faculty) with a request for approval of the applicants with a status of Interview Pending and HOLD.   You CANNOT contact any applicants until the interview pending request is approved by the Office of HRA for Staff positions or the Office of HRA and Dean of the College for Faculty positions.
  • Only the references listed by the applicant may be contacted.  Reference checks may be conducted either before or after the interview process.  You must get permission from the applicant to contact someone who is not listed as a reference.
  • If applicants’ received poor or inadequate references, the non-select reason is available in the drop down menu.
  • If you wish to contact references not listed, approval must be granted by the applicant.
