Biography

Matthew Simeone joined the University’s Facility Operations Department in December of 2021 as Water System Manager. Matt has extensive experience with various water treatment processes and drinking water regulations, maintaining water quality parameters, and managing water treatment plant operations. Prior to joining URI, Matt was Manager of Plant Operations for Providence Water’s Scituate Purification Plant.
In addition to having worked in engineering consulting in the design of water treatment systems, Matt also has considerable project and construction management experience in both the biotech and water treatment industries. Matt received a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island and is a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) (Chemical) in Rhode Island. Matt also holds Class 4 Treatment and Class 3 Distribution drinking water licenses with the Rhode Island Department of Health and is passionate about providing safe drinking water to the URI community.
