This program is an opportunity to work in a location for two years as a public health associate that is helping a community in the field of public health. It is a salaried position with benefits offered as they are to all CDC and federal employees. However, relocation costs are not covered by the program and therefore the awardee is responsible for those expenses. Travel for the three in-person trainings in Atlanta, Georgia are reimbursed. Not only is this a way of gaining experience in the public health area, but associates are given access to a plethora of other benefits in addition to the networking opportunities. Associates have access to health care, paid sick leave and vacation, CDC employee mentoring, on-the-job training, and more that will all bring the associate’s experience with the program together as an introduction to the professional world of public health.
