Nominations for the awards listed below require institutional endorsement through the Office of National Fellowships and Academic Opportunities.
In some cases, programs put a cap on the number of nominees each institution can put forward. To be considered for URI nomination, students submit a preliminary application to the Office of National Fellowships and Academic Opportunities. A selection committee then selects the URI candidates, who then complete the official scholarship application with guidance from Kathleen Maher and faculty volunteers.
For awards with no limit to the number of applicants, there is no preliminary application but there is a campus deadline by which you must submit your materials. The Office of National Fellowships and Academic Opportunities provides guidance and advising in the weeks and months leading up to the campus deadlines, and arranges for campus evaluation interviews prior to the national deadline.
