The Brave New Fellows Program offers activist storytellers from communities of color and/or economically marginalized communities a one year, paid opportunity to work with Brave New Films and learn how to create and distribute media that makes a difference. By working alongside experienced staff from our production, distribution or outreach team, fellows build practical skills in digital storytelling, production, post-production, campaign strategies, outreach, research, and social media. The fellowship equips activists to use film to support their social justice work, and prepares them for jobs in nonprofits, alternative media, and documentary filmmaking. To complement the on-the-job learning, fellows meet and network with film directors, activists, leaders of organizations, journalists, politicians and organizers, and they receive training in camera operation, database management, communication, and more. Fellows are also matched up with mentors outside of BNF, already working in the fellow’s field of interest.
As compensation, each fellow receives $800/week for the duration of the fellowship, medical and dental insurance, and PTO (paid time off).
