2026 Pride Barbequeer Luncheon

Celebrate Rhody pride in style at the Gender & Sexuality Center’s annual Pride Barbequeer! This year, our popular laid-back luncheon cookout will be hosted at the Graduate School of Oceanography (GSO) in the Mosby Center. What better way to celebrate community and allyship than with a beautiful view of the bay? Coming Out Month

A month-long series of events celebrating the lifelong process of coming out. During this month, we host a friendly resource festival hosted on the quad, celebrating National Coming Out Day. We also provide a rainbow door on the quad to show support for coming out of the closet as an ally or member of the LGBTQ+ community. All are welcome to attend.

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Join us for Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) as we come together to honor the lives we lost to acts of gender-based violence. This is an event to inspire reflection, remembrance, advocacy, and solidarity for the transgender community. Decorate a candle-lit paper bag and enjoy a shared meal together as a community as we observe this important event. All are welcome to attend.

QTPOC Black History Month Gala

The Queer & Trans People of Color (QTPOC) Black History Month Gala is a celebration of the intersecting identities of queer people of color. Each year, the Gala’s theme evolves to honor the resilience, struggles, and achievements of these communities. Join us for an inspiring evening of celebration, reflection, and connection as we continue working toward a more inclusive, supportive, and vibrant community for all people. All are welcome to attend.

The Vagina Monologues

The Vagina Monologues is an episodic play written by Eve Ensler designed to build community among women, de-stigmatize speaking of vaginas, and raise money to help support the URI Women’s Center and Gender & Sexuality Center in fostering a community where all individuals feel valued and safe to be themselves. All are welcome to attend.

The 32nd Annual LGBTQ+ Symposium

Celebrating 31 years of the LGBTQ+ Symposium at URI! The LGBTQ+ Symposium is a series of events aimed at fulfilling the needs of the LGBTQ+ community. This includes raising awareness of ongoing issues within the LGBTQ+ Community (mental health, stigma, LGBTQ+ history), highlighting allies and resources, and celebrating what the LGBTQ+ community has done for society. All are welcome to attend.

Queer Prom

Get ready to slay the night at our Queer Prom, an inclusive celebration featuring a local DJ. Queer Prom offers a joyful space for self-expression, connection, and identity affirmation.
