Biography
Tia Hines, a Rhode Island native, holds an M.A. in English from Rhode Island College, as well as a B.A. in English and Writing and Rhetoric from the University of Rhode Island. During her time at Rhode Island College, she served as a writing tutor. Her Master’s thesis focused on the potential dangers of Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s The Yellow Wallpaper and Kate Chopin’s The Awakening as they are currently taught in the feminist canon. Her primary area of research is Trans-Atlantic women’s literature from the 1900 to the present. She hopes that through her research, she will be able to widen the scope of women’s literature that is taught at both the secondary and university level. Aside from reading, she enjoys painting, spending time in nature, and thrifting.
