Vijay Varma, who will be joining as a faculty member in Fall 2023, won the postdoc award of the State of Brandenburg. With this award, the state of Brandenburg honors outstanding research work by postdocs at universities and non-university research institutions. The prize is endowed with 20,000 euros. Vijay was honored with this award for his pioneering work to develop models to catch black holes that are ejected after a merger with a velocity of thousands of kilometers per second.
