Biography
Dr. Bryana White is a clinical psychologist who serves as the Assistant Director and Identity-Focused Specialist at Student Counseling Services, at Connecticut College. There she provides individual and group psychotherapy to student clients, coordinates the center’s pre and post-doctoral training program, and develops and implements psycho-educational programs for the campus community. She teaches counseling, gender and women’s studies, and personal development-oriented courses for undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Rhode Island.
Her research addresses cultural competence, awareness of privilege, and college mental health. A primary focus of Dr. White’s work across contexts is the interplay between aspects of identity and psychological functioning. Much of her work is aimed to facilitate the development of professional competences (for colleagues and graduate student trainees) and personal capacities (for those she serves in classrooms and therapy rooms) to enable ethical engagement of self and others in particular around aspects of identity.
