Biography

Emma is a Ph.D. candidate in the English department at URI. She holds a B.A. in English from Georgia State University in Atlanta with a joint concentration in British and American Cultures from Northumbria University in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, as well as an M.A in English from Georgia State University.

Her research interests include Post45 fiction, nihilism – particularly its intersection with race and gender, theories of violence, transgression, and issues pertaining obscenity and censorship. Currently, she is working on her dissertation, which interrogates the phenomenon of the white male nihilist as a recurrent character in post-World War II fiction written by white male authors.
