Hillside Hall is one of URI’s largest and most energy efficient (LEED certified) residence halls, and houses approximately 600 first year students. Hillside is a “H” shaped structure in the residential area, featuring a five-story wing on one side, with a glass sky bridge linking it to the other four-story wing. The bridge provides each floor with outstanding views of the campus and what students often refer to as “Zen” rain gardens in the courtyards. The building has 27 air-conditioned study lounges, as well as small gathering spaces in each hallway to promote a sense of community for either meetings or studies.
