Postdoctoral fellow appointments are created on the state payroll as non-classified staff limited-period positions for a specific period consistent with funding source timeframes.
Postdoctoral fellow positions are categorized as URI Board of Trustees (BOT) non-classified, non-union staff positions and as such are under the jurisdiction of the BOT and applicable URI policies and procedures. Postdoctoral positions are filled in accordance with the University Policy and Procedures for Employee Recruitment, Selection, and Hiring.
Additional information on extending, terminating, and benefits for limited period positions can be found in the URI Personnel Policies Procedural Manual.
Salary Ranges:
The salary range is based upon NIH & NSF guidelines. Exceptions must be approved by the Office of the Vice Provost, Academic Personnel and Budget. These positions are eligible for salary increases as approved by the URI Board of Trustees.
The Office of Sponsored Projects should be consulted by principal investigators writing these positions into their grant proposals to ensure that appropriate benefit percentage rates are included in the award process.
Questions regarding postdoctoral fellow employees should be addressed to either Laura Kenerson (874-5271) or Robin Santini (874-2456) in the Office of Human Resource Administration.
