Jonas Halley, a doctoral candidate in English, is writing a dissertation on Edmund Burke and preparing to start a job as Assistant Professor of English at Dean College. Jonas is described by his faculty mentors as a “scholar’s scholar” and a “deeply imaginative and original thinker” as well as a “magnificent teacher.” Working at the intersection of historical literature and contemporary politics, he is poised to reach both academic specialists and a broader public. A committed public humanities practitioner, he teaches in the award-winning Providence Clemente Veterans Initiative which offers free humanities courses to military veterans. Jonas is a socially engaged scholar, public voice, teacher and mentor.
