New Book from Joëlle Rollo-Koster

Professor of Medieval History, Joëlle Rollo-Koster has a new publication available in May. The Great Western Schism, 1378-1417: Performing Legitimacy, Performing Unity examines the Great Schism which divided Western Christianity between the years of 1378 and 1417. With this book, Rollo-Koster’s intervenes in the study of the Great Schism by looking at the event through the lens of social drama. By gathering cultural, artistic, liturgical, and literary evidence, alongside 25 years of Vatican archives, Rollo-Koster humanizes the Great Schism and shows how it influenced political thought and worked to achieve unity.

The book is published by Cambridge University Press and is currently in print in Europe and will be available in the US in May. Visit the Cambridge U. Press website for more information on Joëlle Rollo-Koster and this work.
