All activities will be held at the University of Rhode Island’s Kingston Campus, which is 30 miles south of Providence, 75 miles south of Boston and 160 miles from New York City.
Getting Here
Rhode Island’s T.F. Green International Airport is closest to the URI Kingston campus (~30-minute drive without traffic).
Flying in to Boston Logan Airport may reduce your travel costs, but could make your ground travel more complicated. This site offers a helpful summary of travel options between Boston and Providence.
From Boston Logan Airport you can take the Peter Pan Bus to Providence or the MBTA.
The MBTA Commuter Rail’s Providence/Stoughton Line stops at T.F. Green Airport (24 miles from campus) and Wickford Junction, which is 8 miles away from the URI Kingston Campus. Wickford Junction is only available on weekdays.
The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus 66 travels between Wickford Junction and the URI Kingston campus. This bus can also be taken from the T.F. Green Airport to the URI Kingston campus. Buses 64 and 66 can be used to travel from the Kingston Amtrak Station to the URI Memorial Union.
Amtrak offers service from Boston or New York to Kingston. The Kingston Amtrak Station is a ten-minute drive from the URI Kingston Campus.
Local Transportation
Local public transportation is limited to the RIPTA bus system. RIPTA offers a Ride Paratransit Program for people with disabilities who are unable to use fixed-route buses. This door-to-door service requires advance reservations. More information here.
Lyft and Uber are available, but these services are very limited in Kingston. Plan ahead: reserve your ride to or from the URI Kingston Campus well in advance.

Ground Transportation during the Symposium
Metcalf Institute will organize shuttle service between area hotels and the URI Kingston Campus. All registrants for the in-person events will be contacted regarding shuttle service. For attendees who plan to drive to campus, see the details on this page regarding parking on campus.
Parking on campus
All visitors must register their vehicles in advance to receive a parking pass. Details on registering your vehicle are forthcoming. Click here for a campus parking map. Parking on campus is generally very tight on weekdays. On weekends, visitor parking on the URI Kingston campus is unrestricted. If you must drive your car to campus, register online in advance, and plan to arrive early, particularly on Thursday and Friday. Accessible parking is available near all Symposium venues.
Getting around the URI Kingston Campus
Rhody Shuttle Service is a free transportation offering with more than 20 stops around the URI Kingston campus. All shuttles are ADA accessible and available to visitors, students, faculty, and staff. The shuttles operate from 7:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on weekdays, with service every 8-15 minutes. It does not operate on weekends.
