Have you ever wanted something so badly that you would do anything for it? Have you ever worked so hard…. To win a t-shirt? And not just any T-shirt… THE t-shirt. The intramural championship t-shirt. Four teams left everything on the field on the evening of Sunday, October 28th and I’m here to tell you all about it.
The men’s flag football championship game kicked off at 7:15 pm Sunday night. The two teams battled it out under the lights on the North Recreation Fields. The energy on the field was magnetic, the players had four, ten minute quarters to give it everything they had.
It didn’t take long before the smack talking began and they were falling onto the ground even though it was“flag” football. As the tension rose on the field I was most impressed by the student referees whomade tough calls and stuck to their gut. The game ended in a winning score of 26-7. The teams shook hands on the field and the winning team got together to celebrate their victory. The players cheered as they received their T-shirts and posed for a photo.
Kickoff for the coed soccer championships was at 7:30 pm, Kroos Control (a freshman team) versus Brett’s still sending it (a senior team). I spoke with some of the freshman female players before the game and they were so excited. They loved being able to play organized sports with their friends and are already signed up to play more intramurals next session!
The game kicked off and it was clear; Kroos Control was dominating Brett’s still sending it. They were connecting passes and scoring goals left and right. At halftime, they were up but the seniors were not ready to accept defeat. Coming back in the second half Brett’s still sending it won 4-3! After the game, we spoke to the group of seniors and they were just so grateful that intramural sports have given them the chance to come together to play a game that they love.
It was really fun to watch these games! Intramurals are a great way to get involved and make friends. Intramurals are for everyone, you don’t need to have any prior experience playing the sport before just the willingness to learn and try your best.
If you missed registration for the upcoming session don’t fret, additions can still be made to the teams. There will also be intramurals next semester!

See ya next week!
