New Semester, Same Campus Rec

A new semester means new classes, new professors, and maybe even a new schedule to figure out. One thing that hasn’t changed is that Campus Rec is still here, and it’s still one of the best resources you have as a URI student. Whether you spent last semester as a regular at group fitness, or you never made it past the front desk, this semester is a fresh chance to make Campus Rec part of your routine. Here’s a reminder of everything that’s still waiting for you.

The Anna Fascitelli Fitness & Wellness Center didn’t go anywhere over break, and it’s ready for you whenever you are. Whether you’re picking up where you left off or stepping into Fascitelli for the first time this year, there’s something for everyone. From the weight room and cardio equipment to quieter spaces for meditation and reflection, including the labyrinth, Fascitelli offers a variety of ways to support your physical and mental well-being. New this semester, a massage chair is also available for anyone looking to relax and recharge. You don’t need to have a plan the first time you walk in. Just showing up is the hard part, but once you do, you’ll be glad you did.

Group Fitness classes are back! If you found a class you loved last semester, it’s probably still on the schedule. If you didn’t get around to trying one, this is your sign. Strength, Pilates, Yoga, Cycling, and more are all running again this semester, and all it takes to get started is showing up once. You don’t have to commit to a set number of classes a week or consider yourself a “gym person” for it to be worth trying. Check out the full schedule and sign up on IMLeagues .

New semester, new season. Intramural leagues are starting back up, with options for nearly every sport and skill level, competitive, recreational, and co-ed divisions included. If you’re looking for a team, or you’ve never played intramurals before, free agent sign ups let you join a roster that’s looking for players. Free agent meetings are a great way to meet other students in the same boat and get placed with a team looking for people just like you. Head to Intramural Sign Up to see what’s opening up this season.

It’s easy to think of Campus Rec as just the gym, but your membership covers a lot more than that. The Tootell Aquatic Center, outdoor fields, tennis courts, and the bike path are all included and available all semester long. If last semester got busy and you never made it to one of these spaces, this is a good time for a reset. Take a lap in the pool, grab a court, or take the bike path when you need a break from your dorm room or the library. None of it requires a plan or a group, just a little curiosity about what’s actually available to you.

The best part about a new semester is that it’s a clean slate. Whatever your relationship with Campus Rec looked like last semester, this one can look different, or exactly the same, if that’s what worked for you. Drop into a class, sign up for a league, or take a walk down the bike path. However you use it, Campus Rec is still here, still included in your student life, and still one of the easiest ways to build a routine and find your people this semester!
