Community Friendship Circle was initiated by Mary Parlange, Multicultural Student Services Center Director, and International Center staff. When Mary Parlange joined the University of Rhode Island (URI) as the spouse of President Marc Parlange, she shared her experience being part of the Friendship Circle at the University of California, Davis. A friendship circle brings community members together to socialize and share information. Graduate students, staff, faculty, undergraduate students, community members, and their families come together for an hour of socialization as they share a light refreshment and snacks. The Multicultural Student Services Center was chosen as a perfect venue for the Community Friendship Circle because it has a mission to bring people from different backgrounds together at the URI campus
