Our mission is to promote, educate and showcase all aspects of Cape Verdean culture and history to all individuals, and create a home for all Cape Verdean students. We hope to promote and illustrate the history of a rich culture of Cape Verde to the student body, faculty and administration.

Our goal is to provide a cultural space for South Asian students and celebrate diversity through vibrant events and community engagement. The Latinx Student Association at URI  seeks to empower, advocate, build community, and promote cultural awareness for Latinx students. We are committed to making a positive impact on our campus and beyond, fostering a sense of pride and identity for our members and promoting a more inclusive and diverse campus community. Our mission is to foster a sense of community and a safe place where people can feel like it’s their home away from home 🙂

Alima International Dance Association (AIDA) was founded in 2005 and is a multicultural organization that brings diversity and unity to URI through musical artistry. We seek to enhance the community with awareness and appreciation of worldwide cultures through our artistry in dance.

eXposure

eXposure is a multicultural dance organization whose goal is to spread knowledge of various cultures through dance. eXposure wants to give back to the community by creating fundraisers, attending community projects and perform at local events to eXposure them to the different forms of dances there are around the world.

The Black Student Union is here to enhance the undergraduate experience of Black students and students of color at the University of Rhode Island. The BSU would allow marginalized groups to bring their voices to the people in charge, without being filtered by others who represent our woes. It is our right as students who pay to attend this institution to feel that we matter.

URI Anime Club

Anime club is a community oriented meeting of individuals that appreciate Japanese animation and culture. For over two decades, URI’s anime club has been bringing students together and creating lasting friendships and memories. While watching and discussing anime is the club’s outward identity, the club’s main goal is to create and sustain an environment where people can have a good time, be themselves and relax adjacent from busy college life. Between viewing, discussing and activities, Anime Club serves as a fun and entertaining diversion that all students need.

Talent Development Student Board’s mission is to be prominent voices on campus by helping students achieve academic success, as well as teaching them to be active role models within the community. It is our obligation to empower students to not only give back but to voice their opinions.

CELS Seeds of Success

Seeds of Success is a student-run organization open to all CELS students, and focused on supporting CELS students from historically underrepresented populations attain a holistic educational experience at URI. Our long-term aim is for students to succeed academically, professionally, and socially by providing a physical and social space within which they can develop a sense of community, as well as leadership and team-building skills both at URI and in their next phase of life. We do this by providing research/scholarship opportunities hosting educational/career seminars and creating affinity spaces for members.

Our mission is to empower the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support, and development.

Brothers on a New Direction (B.O.N.D.)

Brothers on a New Direction B.O.N.D. recognizes the need for unity amongst young men. Through service and mentorship, they pledge to guide young men towards personal and professional growth.

Powerful Independent Notoriously Knowledgeable (P.I.N.K.)

Powerful, Independent, Notoriously, Knowledgeable women promote self-exploration, professional development and leadership opportunities to enhance the undergraduate experience of multicultural women.

Alumni of Color Student Leadership Group (ACSLG)

ACSL objective is to bridge the gap between alumni of color and students of color by establishing a robust network of opportunities within the URI community. We aim to serve as a liaison between alumni and current students, fostering mentorship, professional development, and community engagement. Our ultimate goal is to empower students of color with valuable resources, guidance, and support from experienced alumni.

Sankofa

Sankofa is a Bible based Multicultural organization that is dedicated to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ at the University. We want to spread the Gospel, create a safe house and a community to give back to our school. We strive to create a diverse group with intentional relationships with one another. We have weekly meetings on Wednesday’s at 7pm where we play games and talk about the Gospel and we also occasionally plan worship nights!

We are a community of believers who seek holiness together in the community of the Catholic Church. Open to all students, faculty, staff and friends of the University of Rhode Island, we strive to empower disciples to become apostles of the Good News through worship, catechesis, charitable works, and Christ-centered community. All are welcome to join us!

Rhody Christian Fellowship

RCF strives to help each student to know and follow Jesus Christ, no matter their previous understanding of Christ or Christianity as a whole. We have weekly worship gatherings, Bible studies led by our campus minister, and small groups led by student leaders. We also encourage each student to engage in the Christian community of RCF with occasional dinners and retreats during the academic year. 

Sojourn Collegiate Ministry

Sojourn is built around community, justice, and faith. We want everyone to have a place to belong & we want to have as much fun as possible along the way. We believe a just world starts with individuals’ actions & we’re always looking for ways to leave the world better than we found it. Sojourn strives to be a safe & non-judgemental place to explore faith and ask life’s big questions. We are a Christian group, but you certainly don’t have to be a Christian to join. We never pretend to have all the answers because life and faith are a journey, and we’re all doing our best to figure it out.
