Wayne Kilcline

Biography

Wayne Kilcline is the founder of the “Providence Youth Guitar Ensemble” and has been an elementary music teacher in the Providence Schools since 1996, teaching general music, chorus, bell choir, recorder and guitar. He was awarded the WJAR Channel 10 “Golden Apple Award” and was named Providence School’s “Teacher of the Year” for 2013. He and his wife Rebecca serve as co-directors of music at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Woonsocket, RI. Wayne has been running the Rhode Island Music Education Association (RIMEA) website since 2003.

Wayne has also taught courses for both the Education Department and the Music Department at Providence College. He serves as a mentor teacher to music education students from the University of Rhode Island, Providence College, and Rhode Island College. He has studied guitar with Mychal Gendron, William Maker, and Andrew Rizzotti.

Just published Lillian Feinstein Elementary’s 17th annual end-of-the-year recording with the Lillian Feinstein students. Served as technology editor for RIMER Journal. Presented at several RIMEA In-Service Conferences.
