Graduate Audition Requirements

• Working knowledge of major, minor, dominant, half-diminished and fully-diminished seventh chords in multiple inversions.
• Ability to add specific tensions to base chords. Ex. A7, b9, 13
• Ability to play major, melodic and harmonic minor modes, two (2) octaves in any key.
• Perform two contrasting chord solos, one ballad and one medium or up-tempo jazz tune or standard.
• Perform a be-bop tune (ex. Donna Lee, Airegin, Anthropology.) Play melody, improvise and comp from memory.
• Demonstrate sight-reading ability both melodic and harmonic.
