Graduate Audition Requirements

Applicants should prepare melody and 2-3 choruses of improvisation. Melody and harmony should be memorized.

1. 32 bar bebop tune (ex. Anthropology, Ornithology, Moose The Mooche, Confirmation, Donna Lee, Cherokee)
2. Ballad (ex. Body and Soul, Darn That Dream, Polka Dots and Moonbeams, Soul Eyes)
3. Blues (ex. Billie’s Bounce, Tenor Madness, Sandu, Isotope)
4. Perform diatonic major triads in all keys, quarter note equals 90 bpm.
5. Sight read one big band chart or solo transcription (to be determined)
