University of Rhode Island Guitar & Mandolin Festival

The University of Rhode Island Guitar & Mandolin Festival brings together an international community of world-class artists, students, educators, composers, and instrument makers for an inspiring celebration of performance, education, and community.
With programming that spans classical guitar and mandolin, chamber music, contemporary music, jazz, blues, and diverse musical traditions from around the world, the festival celebrates the guitar and mandolin as bridges between cultures and people. Concerts, masterclasses, workshops, lectures, competitions, ensemble experiences, and the New England Invitational Luthier Expo create opportunities for musicians and music lovers of all ages and levels to participate.
Through its breadth of programming and international reach, the festival has established URI as a vibrant destination for guitar and mandolin performance and education—a place to learn from leading artists, discover new music, exchange ideas, and build lasting friendships through a shared love of music.

Tickets

Tickets for concerts can be purchased through Eventbrite or one hour prior to the performance at the Box Office. Unless otherwise listed, our events are in the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall, 105 Upper College Road, Kingston, RI

Ticket Prices: General Admission $20; Students $10; Seniors (60 and older) $10; Children 12 and under FREE.

Upcoming Events

Summer Music Academy

Hosted at the URI Kingston campus, the camp is open to voice, string, woodwind, brass, and percussion students. Piano students will be placed in the ensemble as mallet percussionists & will participate in percussion studio class. To enroll you must have completed the 7th through 12th grade in June of 2027.
The camp will provide interactive, welcoming, and joyful large ensemble and chamber ensemble experiences. Students will partake in studio classes, chamber ensemble concerts, workshops/clinics, music theory classes, and many other workshops, masterclasses, and sessions!
Campers will enjoy an authentic Rhode Island experience! They will take a field trip to a local beach for an afternoon of fun. Campers will have time to relax and enjoy some down time together, oceanside! Each night will have a planned event for everyone, including a movie night, faculty recital, open swim at the university pool, and other fun activities.
