Juliet Lai

Biography

Juliet Lai is an active chamber and orchestral musician as well as educator in the New England area. She is the clarinetist of the woodwind quintet Vento Chiaro and has been the second /assistant clarinetist in the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra since 1999.  Her freelance orchestral performances have included The Cleveland Orchestra, Charleston Symphony Orchestra in South Carolina, Tyrol Symphony Orchestra in Austria, and local orchestras such as Cape Symphony Orchestra, New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, Glenn Falls Symphony, Gardner Chamber Orchestra, Eastern Connecticut Symphony and ALEA III.

Miss Lai is particularly passionate about chamber music. She has performed frequently in a wide spectrum of chamber music concerts, from contemporary works by living composers to works from the golden era of harmoniemusik.  She is the founding member of Boston Octet and Anemoi Quintet.  Previously, she appeared with the United Woodwind Quintet in a concert tour to Japan where she also taught Masterclasses.  She was also a member of Xanthos Ensemble, a contemporary chamber ensemble.

Besides URI, Miss Lai has a private studio and is also on faculty at Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Phillips Exeter Academy, College of the Holy Cross, The Rivers School Conservatory and Bridgewater State University.
