Biography

Nicole O’Malley founded Hands in Harmony in 2003 after receiving her Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from Anna Maria College.  She is now the Executive Director and President of this organization after a recent conversion to non-profit status. 

She completed training in Neurologic Musician 2007 and her Fellowship in Neurologic Music Therapy in 2016.  Nicole received her M.A. in music therapy through Berklee College of Music, focusing on researching the neurobiology of the role of music in the stress and relaxation response. 

Nicole received level I Neonatal Intensive Care Unit training in 2017.  She was the recipient of the Changemaker Award for Music Therapy Advocacy in 2013.  She serves as the chair of the music therapy task force of Rhode Island throughout the passing of the music therapy licensure in Rhode Island.
