URI Wins Award for Monitoring Future Offshore Wind Farm Facilities

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) of the U.S. Department of Interior has awarded a team led by HDR, Inc. a 5-year $10 million contract to continue providing environmental monitoring services for future offshore wind farm facilities.

The University of Rhode Island is a key member of the team.

The award of the Real-time Opportunity for Development of Environmental Observations (RODEO) II IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery – Indefinite Quantity) Contract is a testament to the quality of the team’s project managers, ocean acousticians, engineers, marine biologists, and scientists. This team has been together since 2015 when BOEM awarded the RODEO 1 IDIQ Contract. Offshore wind energy is forecasted to be an important and growing component of the nations’ alternative energy mix and HDR is proud to be supporting the key federal agency that is charged with leading this effort.

The HDR Team is led by Contract Manager Anwar Khan and includes nationally- and internationally recognized experts from leading universities, research institutions and contractors. The URI effort is led by Prof. James H. Miller of the Department of Ocean Engineering.
