Dual Enrollment

Eligibility

The Dual Enrollment Program is designed for motivated students, typically juniors and seniors, who seek to get a head start on college credit and who are looking to be challenged academically while in high school. HS students are expected to have an overall 3.0 minimum high school GPA and need to meet any URI prerequisites for open courses.

Any HS student expecting the cost of a dual-enrolled class to be covered by the Prepare RI Initiative, MUST have their HS guidance counselor submit a letter on school letterhead to Christine P. Dolan, christine@uri.edu, affirming that the course(s) they are taking meet their HS graduation requirements. If this is not the case, then students and their families are responsible for covering the course costs.

How do I find a URI course?

Recommended dual enrollment courses should be those that are listed under our General Education Courses

We also recommend that you check the URI Course Catalog to make sure that you meet any pre-requisite requirements for your course choices.

Please note: You must meet all prerequisite criteria and abide by all URI policies regarding eligibility to enroll in a class.

High School Students interested in taking a Math class need to refer to the information about the URI math placement test before registering for classes.
Students registering for any URI class are required to meet all semester registration deadlines and abide by all enrollment procedures. See Academic Calendar.
