Arianna Jimenez had worked in the industry since 2014, so she assumed, given her extensive background, that the Intro to BioPharma for MFG support professionals course would be a recap of material she had already picked up along the way. But she found that the course offered more than she anticipated.
“It is so easy to execute your day’s work with ‘side blinders’ on, theoretically speaking of course,” she says. “You get somewhat of a tunnel vision focusing on your tasks throughout the day, and you aren’t really aware of what goes into the bigger picture through processes, quality monitoring, and contamination control.”
Jimenez also gained a new perspective of the impact each of the teams at Amgen have in creating a successful product.
“It was really amazing to step back and take a deep dive into the overall MFG process from beginning to end and see what it really takes to get a quality final product out to Amgen’s product patients,” she said. “I also think it’s interesting to see how all of the various working parts are essentially puzzle pieces, and without one or the other, the picture would not, and could not be complete.”
