Overview
Wednesday, June 4, 2025 @ 12:00pm – 1:00pm
Live via Zoom
Up until January 12th, 2023, most providers were not allowed to manage medication-assisted therapy (MAT) without additional training and a Data Waiver granted by the state; therefore, many providers and pharmacists are not familiar with or do not have experience with the practice of prescribing MAT.
With the new legislation removing the Data Waiver requirement, any provider can manage medication-assisted therapy, but there have not been additional training requirements for providers and pharmacists. This activity will help educate pharmacists on MAT so they can better assist providers who may not have experience with this practice.
Target Audience
Pharmacists in all practice settings.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the 2023 changes in legislation surrounding the DATA-Waiver.
- Define medication-assisted therapy and list examples, including common side effects and monitoring parameters.
- Describe common supportive therapies and monitoring parameters for opioid use disorder.
- Explain how to design an appropriate Medication-Assisted Therapy (MAT) regimen for a patient, including monitoring parameters and supporting therapies.
Evaluation
All participants will have the opportunity to review the educational sessions and speakers and to identify future educational needs.
