Overview

The overarching goal of this expert debate is to provide evidence to the audience on the medical, legal, and social justice risks and benefits of marijuana, including an analysis of the effect that recreational legalization has had in states where it has been approved.  This webinar aims to bridge the gap of the lack of healthcare providers’ knowledge and/or comfort related to counseling patients about cannabis/marijuana use.

Target Audience

Pharmacists in all practice settings and all other interested health professionals.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:

• Discuss the evidence regarding the potential benefits and adverse effects of marijuana use by different populations of people.
• Summarize the data on the public health, economic and social justice impact of marijuana legalization in other states.
• Explain the potential relationship of marijuana use and overall drug-related harm reduction.

Evaluation

All participants will have the opportunity to review the educational sessions and speakers and to identify future educational needs.

Requirements for Credit

Completion of the online program evaluation after viewing the home study program is required to earn credit. No partial credit is available for this program. Evaluations must be completed at www.uripharmacycpd.org within 60 days.

Pharmacy

 The University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
